What’s Twitter All About? I’ll Be Your Tour Guide!

When you encounter something new, isn’t it nice to have someone to guide you through it?

I’ve made my first of (hopefully) many video tutorials about Twitter, the handy-dandy, free social networking site. Teacher Geeks can use it one of two ways:

1. To connect with other teachers to share resources and build your Personal Learning Network (PLN).

2. Use it as a classroom account to engage reluctant learners, express thoughts to a global audience, and demonstrate safe use of technology.

But before I talk about how to use Twitter, I thought I’d take you on a tour. Let me be your guide and tell you what “this Twitter thing” is all about (and how it’s very different than Facebook). This video is not quite a “how to”, rather than a “guided exploration.” It’s not quite a scuba tour through Belize (but it’s close).

(Click the corner with the four arrows to see it full screen, then you’ll be able to see the details better.)

If you haven’t tried Twitter yet, I hope that this video will help you decide if it’s something you’d like to try. (By the way, I get nothing from Twitter, they don’t know me from Eve.) Please let me know in the comments what you think!

Thank you!! Twitter and Tweetdeck have made some changes recently and I hope to be able to update the video before the start of the next school year. Make sure you’re subscribed to new posts so that you’ll be updated when the new one comes out. Thanks for reading!
