The Simple Apron: A Total Game-Changer

You can be the Martha Stewart of teaching with a handy apron

You can be the "Martha Stewart of Teaching" with a handy apron.

Carpenters have tool belts to keep their tools at the ready.  Art Teachers know to wear aprons to protect their clothes.  Why not general classroom teachers and paraprofessionals?  Honestly, if you are teaching only at your desk, then there’s a problem (we’ll save that for another blog entry).  I’m all over the room, all day.  I used to run back and forth to my desk for supplies and such constantly.  There would be strange and miscellaneous items emptied out of my pockets at the end of the day.  When I spied these cute aprons in the “Dollar Aisle” of Michael’s, it occurred to me that I could keep everything I needed with me at all times.  Here are some of the items that I stash in my apron:

  • pencils/pens/markers/highlighters
  • reward stickers
  • my craft sticks with student names written on them for easy random pulls
  • lip balm
  • behavior tickets
  • sticky note pad
  • student contraband like those darn Silly Bandz

And that’s just the beginning.  I have to be careful not to let the apron turn into a “junk drawer” of sorts – regular clean outs are a must.  And for you Manly-Man Teachers out there who don’t want a “girlie” apron, run to the nearest hardware store and pick up online casino australia a canvas work apron, no excuses.

Seriously, a cheap little apron can be a total GAME-CHANGER to your day. Give it a shot!

My classroom just had piles of pencils, sissors and post-its all over the classroom. Where I put it down was where it stayed until I began to search frantically, or the sissors were found by a four year old with a plan. Rock on.

:o ) I used to wear mine all of the time, I sort of forgot about it-but I loved it. I have to go back to it. Maybe I will upgrade and get a cute one, instead of the one that I used when I worked at the Outback! Thanks for the reminder.

Ok, now you’re making me think the school nurse should get a holster. One side for the otoscpope. Other for the Thermoscan (thermometer)! Just add cowgirl boots and the picture is complete!

I actually know several elementary teachers who wear aprons daily, and I think it’s a great idea! It’s an easy way to carry your most important items (grading utensils, behavior rewards, etc.) without having to make sure you wear something with huge pockets every day!

Aprons are great!! They keep me organized and I always seem to have just what I need just when I need it. I found a great apron online at TheTeachersSpot.com
